Where you at right now? In your relationship/s, your career, your health, your state of mind, your knowledge, your goals, your ambitions, your life – where, are, you, at? Are you satisfied, are you content? Do you strongly feel you’re living something worth talking about? Or are you simply talking/gossiping about other people’s glories and horrors as you live your life on the sidelines. Are you adding to the front end of ordinary that little something extra? Or are you going about your days comfortable with living small or subpar, leaving the real good stuff to the pioneers, leaders, rich, successful and courageous human beings.
For several years now I’ve been f’n fed up with ordinary. Guess I wasn’t ever born nor modeled to ever live the O-life. I’ve been banging my head, making my moves each and every day in order to realize the remarkableness of living extraordinary. Thinking right, working hard. Figuring out what I love, what my natural talents are, what I was put here on this earth to set forth and do. Got tired of complacency and the norm along this journey, so a few years back I bucked the trend and decided to go against the grain, jumping on the challenging highway that rolls with those who want more. More love, more meaning, more purpose in such an uncertain world. A world where if you’re not taking control of your life, your living somebody else’s plan – for that’s not how I envision the good life, that’s not the definition of extraordinary living.
As per dictionary.com, the definition of both extraordinary and ordinary is as follows:
Extraordinary:
- Beyond what is usual, ordinary, regular, or established: extraordinary costs.
- Exceptional in character, amount, extent, degree, etc.; noteworthy; remarkable: extraordinary speed; an extraordinary man.
- (of an official, employee, etc.) outside of or additional to the ordinary staff; having a special, often temporary task or responsibility: minister extraordinary and plenipotentiary.
Ordinary:
- Of no special quality or interest; commonplace; unexceptional: One novel is brilliant, the other is decidedly ordinary; an ordinary person.
- Plain or undistinguished: ordinary clothes.
- Somewhat inferior or below average; mediocre.
I’m not saying you have to pull up to valet in a Bentley, sky dive on weekends with supermodels or spend money like P. Diddy or Elton John. I’m not insinuating you should find the cure for cancer, try out for the NFL at 35 or drop everything and dive into politics or take off for Hollywood. I’m not even saying you have to change the world or be someone you’re not just to give off that impression that you’re super special (you already are, act yourself for f sakes) – what I am saying is that for the majority of us, we’re straight out, deny it or not, living an ordinary sub par performance life. We’re living quiet both inside and on the outside. What I am saying is that in your home, your heart, your own backyard/your community, grand chances are, you’re living ordinarily sub par.
Life’s easier than you think. No matter the cards you’ve been dealt as of right now, you do have, and always will have, the chance to play another hand, a better hand. No matter the job you currently show up to everyday, the relationship you’re in, the kids you’ve brought into this world, the pay check you collect once every week or two, you do have the choice to morph all that from ordinary into extraordinary. How? By being extraordinary. You’ll never reach extra unless you give a little something extra. The more you give the more extraordinary you and your life and the world around you will become.
Life’s not that complicated, no matter what they’ll have you believe. Be honest, be great, work hard, smile and give everything you do and have that extraordinary mile.
