I was thinking about this other day as I was driving along a packed highway en route to see one of my customers. As I glared over to my right, I could see two separate drivers engaged in road rage with one another. Shouting, honking, arms flaring – all this because the other, only slightly, cut the other off a tad bit. Please people relax, take it easy. All this propelled me to ponder – if any one of them had only 1 week left to live would any of this matter? Would they give a hoot about a careless act of inconsideration? Would that act that very moment have any relevance to what their reality was at that immediate time in their life? Would any of what was happening around/in their world mean anything unless it meant everything? Family, friends, dreams, goals, visions and burning desires. Quality time spent with the ones we love, doing the things we love.
I confidently believe that’s all we’d truly really care about, all we’d even consider allowing to enter our personal living world.
Think about that – think about that for a few precious minutes. If you had 7 days to live, would you care about anything less than the best – the best people in your life, the best things you may have missed out on when you thought you had all the time in the world to achieve them. Far too much we set aside what we really want, what we know we should truly be doing. We do this because we figure we have all the time in the world. We humorously make ourselves believers that we’ll get a second shot somewhere down the line – if not in this lifetime, heck maybe the next. Whatever. Right? Wrong!
You got one shot to make it all right – you have one life to do, fail, learn and make it better. Live now live the prime time of your life. This is it. As the famous words go, life’s not a dress rehearsal. This is no warm up to the real deal – this is the real deal.
