Up here in Montreal right now, the city is in a tizzy buzz. The Stanley Cup playoffs start this Thursday night as the hometown Canadiens host their very long time rivals, the Boston Bruins. The Canadiens didn’t make the playoffs last year. In fact since 1993 the Canadiens haven’t done that much worth talking about. But this season is a different story – and with that being the case, the Canadiens rev into the playoffs being one of the favorites after finishing first in their conference. All this being the case, watch now how the fans unite and get behind their hometown heroes, their legendary franchise. Watch the remarkable support, buzz and non stop hockey fever that infects an entire city, province and Canadiens nation worldwide. Its amazing what sports can do to a soul. Its amazing the attractiveness and allure of unite.
And so it goes with much more than just hockey, or any other sports playoffs. Its a burning desire we all have deep down inside, the need to be a part of something bigger, something positive and energizing – in the quest to something greater. We unite and move as one.
Breast cancer walks, AIDS walks, charity events and more – we all want to be a part of something that stands for something greater. We want to contribute and we want to have a voice. That’s what creates meaning for us, that’s what makes life worth living.
They say that humans today do not care about anything more than themselves, they say that the world is cold and that people live a me first and only me mentality. I say that’s B.S. I believe that humans are humans, people are people – give ‘em something to cheer about, give ‘em something to feel they are apart of while making a difference and people will be there every step of the way.
It doesn’t have to start off as something big, for like anything in life, some of the biggest movements and causes started off with one simple step. That one step today has raised billions of dollars for cancer, breast cancer and AIDS research. One step has created thousands upon thousands of quality, meaningful charities and support systems that continue to move the human race to greater possibilities and achievements. As we unite as one my friends, we ultimately move towards something greater.
