We won last night. Man did it feel good. It’s been a while since we won a big game, and let me tell you that winning the first game of the playoffs is a big deal for our squad.
I play ice hockey in a gentleman’s league – an organized night league where you get together once a week with your buddies and play one of the 6 teams in your division. It’s awesome. To me, it’s a truly remarkable feeling to step out on that ice each week – skate like the wind, shoot that puck with everything I’ve got. It’s the camaraderie, it’s the game and it’s the quest to WIN. And last night we did.
I was sitting in the locker room after the game, just soaking the win in. Thinking how often we take the journey to, and the moment of winning for granted. Unless you have a horse shoe up your ass, winning is not something that happens every second of your living day. Its something that, 99.9% of the time, you have to work for. You have to move for it and you have to persevere. Unless you win the lottery, there is no easy win. Each win is a result of the initiative you took and the successful moves you made.
Winning comes in so many different forms, shapes and sizes. Winning can reveal itself in the form of a big promotion at work, losing 20 pounds, making the sale, publishing that book, completing the marathon or marrying the soul mate of your dreams. A win is something that is sacred. Everything about it is precious. From the journey to get to that win, to the tangible reality that you have won – nothing should be taken for granted.
