Had a great conversation with a very close friend of mine today – someone who over the past year, has started to see all of his year’s of hard work begin to pay off. As he begins to experience the results and rewards of giving it everything he’s got, I can’t help but notice how humble and down to earth he remains. So much so that he does not feel as if he has accomplished anything more than a mere foundation, a stepping stone en route to his ultimate vision. While we spoke today, I asked him if he was truly enjoying the journey, and if he had the time, the opportunity to stop for more than one second to take a deep breath and take it all in. His remarkable reply was this, “Because all of what I am doing RIGHT NOW is MY PASSION, I am living every up and every down deeper than I ever imagined. I am experiencing everything that I somewhat envisioned, as I chose to lead and take this path many years ago. What I do is not a job nor a career, what I do is a part of me and is executed through every thought that I think and every action in which I act. This is passion, this is love, this is my life.”
Man that was deep. No joke.
But he’s bang on, and as real as it gets. This is someone who never had it easy, never had anything handed to him but the opportunity to make the most out of his life. It was his choice and his own will, determination and perseverance. He paved his own way and paid his own way through school. He never lost sight of what he wanted, once he knew EXACTLY WHAT he wanted. He told me that he truly only realized what he wanted, when he dug deep and discovered what made him happiest, what was a great part of him and what he was most passionate about. When it came down to it, that thing, that idea, that vision, was the one thing that he knew, deep down, that if he focused on and worked his tail off, he would achieve and do it better than anyone else. That was his driving force and that was his fuel, and he ensured that he never went off course or lost fuel along the way. Now that’s someone I seriously admire. That’s someone whom anyone could look up to.
As our conversation winded down, I asked him what kept him going day after day – when the desired and envisioned results were not coming around, and no tangible rewards were in his hands. He simply replied this, “When you are doing something you so deeply are confident in, something you so strongly love and something everyone you meet, can feel you are so infinitely passionate about, you just know you cannot fail. Others rally around you, they support you and cheer you on. No one goes at it alone, NO ONE CAN go at it alone. Everybody needs somebody, there are no self-made men or women. You do this for the passion you have for whatever it is that you set out to do, and you do it straight up, simply for the love of life.”
Didn’t think he could get any deeper. Man this guy knew how to pump out the seriously meaningful words.
I had to share our conversation with all of you. It was a must. Talks like this do not happen everyday. They are rare gems that you must reflect on and look deeper into. This great friend of mine is truly a remarkable inspiration to me – someone I can look up to and aspire to become. It may sound all so simple, but its not. If it was, everyone would be doing it. The ironic reality is, that if we all CHOSE to lead life like this, reaching for WHAT WE TRULY WANT and going after all we envision, maybe, just maybe, more of us would understand the words – FOR THE LOVE OF LIFE a little clearer, and make it PRIORITY NUMBER ONE to love life a little more and radiate the electrifying passion everyone of us has deep inside within.
