With all that we have to do in one’s day, with all of the responsibilities and expectations, those to-do lists and obligations to others – Is there truly such a thing as BALANCE in our world today?
How does one equally distribute focus and energy into the key areas of their life? The areas that mean the most to that person – The areas that matter the most to them and to the success of their future, propelling them and enabling them to reach for their dreams and achieve their goals. How does one do it?
Well what does success mean to you? Is success a status, a position of importance? Is success financial wealth? Is success excellent health? Is success a close, loving and healthy family? Is success traveling the world and doing whatever you want and feel? Or is success balance in all the key, most important areas of your life?
This is truly an excellent conversation starter. I have recently asked many of my successful clients what success means to them and if along that journey to success, they feel as if balance has been present. Their reactions and stories were very much worth the price of admission for asking that simple question. It is so interesting to hear what success means to some and what it means to others. Many were comfortable discussing what success meant to them, but few had the ease of confirming that balance was a part of that success journey. It seemed that on their way to the top, they lost several key elements along the way. Some experienced broken homes, for some it was declining health, for others it was friends lost. Very few confessed that balance was an integral part of their success recipe.
My journey, my road to success has only just begun. As I take my steps, I try each and every day to balance out my energy and focus, making sure to include my family, loved ones, health and relationships. I also make sure that time for pleasure does not elude me. I want to ensure that I am enjoying the journey, and savoring every moment of it. I am not blind nor naïve to the fact that many sacrifices must be made, many tears will be shed and many heartaches will occur. But I am enforcing my beliefs that enthusiasm, passion and influence will enable me to be true to my mission – to my dreams and to my goals.
As I continue to ask those whom I know what success means to them and if there truly is such a thing as balance along the road to success – I challenge you to ask yourself those questions and to spark up a conversation with those very same words the next time you walk into a room. Enjoy.
